entrepreneurial- to deal with or initiate as an entrepreneur

panache- a grand or flamboyant manner; verve; style; flair

nuance- a subtle difference or distinction in expression, meaning, response, etc

rudimentary- pertaining to rudiments or first principles; elementary

apartheid- any system or practice that separates people according to race, caste, etc

ceded- to yield or formally surrender to another

gregarious- fond of the company of others; sociable

chromosomal- a threadlike linear strand of DNA and associated proteins in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells that carries the genes and functions in the transmission of hereditary information

monomania- a psychosis characterized by thoughts confined to one idea or group of ideas

clemency- an act or deed showing mercy or leniency

sullen- showing irritation or ill humor by a gloomy silence or reserve

anomalous- not fitting into a common or familiar type, classification, or pattern; unusual

recalcitrant- resisting authority or control; not obedient or compliant; refractory

razzing- to deride; make fun of; tease

apologia- an apology, as in defense or justification of a belief, idea, etc

fatuous- foolish or inane, esp. in an unconscious, complacent manner; silly

penitente- a member of a religious order, chiefly in Spanish-American communities in New Mexico, known for their practice of self-flagellation, esp. during Holy Week

veneer- a thin layer of wood or other material for facing or inlaying wood

comelier- pleasing in appearance; attractive; fair

phantasmagoria- a shifting series of phantasms, illusions, or deceptive appearances, as in a dream or as created by the imagination

madrigal- a secular part song without instrumental accompaniment, usually for four to six voices, making abundant use of contrapuntal imitation, popular esp. in the 16th and 17th centuries

seracs- a large irregularity of glacial ice, as a pinnacle found in glacial crevasses and formed by melting or movement of the ice

bregschrund- a crevasse, or series of crevasses, at the upper end of a mountain glacier
